Hymn text

O Durga, sovereign of lords, giver of good fortune, higher than the highest; worshipped one, beloved of Mahesh, ocean of mercy; praiseworthy, self-ruling, remover of every affliction, queen of gods — O one praised by Krishna, O Lalita, mistress of all, show your grace.

O divine one, praised by hundreds of Shrutis, pure, lady of dissolution; fairer than a hundred Cupids, power of Madhava; O Medha, daughter of the mountain-lord, devoted, lady of Shiva — O one praised by Krishna, show your grace.

O lady of the rasa-mandala, remover of the distress of those who bow to you, mistress of the lineage; dear to dharma, remover of fear, foremost among boon-givers; O goddess of speech, worshipped by Brahma, lady of the lotus throne — O one praised by Krishna, show your grace.

O worshipful one, rider of the great bull, auspicious mistress; O Padma, sky-clad, Maheshvari, lady of the forest; O beautiful mountain-dweller, worshipped by all the gods, lady of Gaya — O one praised by Krishna, show your grace.

O Faith, worshipped by gods and asuras, lady of all waters; O Ganga, beloved of the mountain-lord, mother of the ganas; O Daksha daughter, dweller in the cremation ground, leader of the gods — O one praised by Krishna, show your grace.

O Tara, eyes moist with compassion, slayer of Madhu and Kaitabha; O sovereign of vidya and of the lords, lady of discipline, mistress of all letters; O energy, four-breasted, eternal, free-haired — O one praised by Krishna, show your grace.

O moksha and O steadfast one, Tripurasundari, rose-hued lady; O Maheshvari, three-eyed, mighty, lady of sacrifices; O craving, O restlessness, O strength; O giver of motion, O firm one — O one praised by Krishna, show your grace.

O sustainer of the world, giver of all, known as victorious; dwelling in Vindhya, moon-faced, merciful in a moment; O Mother, lotus-eyed, delightful, lady of Smara — O one praised by Krishna, show your grace.
