Hymn text

Sinless, adored by the world, wearing a garland of lotuses; pure and bright as a cloudless sky — may that lotus-like Saraswati protect us.

She whose form abides in the letters, adorned with gold and gems; the decisive Bharati, white-hued — may Saraswati protect us.

Bestowing boons and fearlessness, holding rudraksha and a precious book; gracious, seated on the lotus, the essence — may that Saraswati protect us.

Beautiful, fair-faced, dwelling in the lotus mansion, sweet too; bright as jasmine, ever saluted — may that Saraswati protect us.

Marked with rudraksha, lotus hands holding the kumbha mudra; giver of auspicious welfare — may auspicious-eyed Saraswati protect us.

Rich with red silk and gems, adorned with clear speech; established in the devotee’s heart-lotus, the Shakti — may Saraswati protect us.

Wife of the four-faced one, of the form of the four Vedas; four-armed, of the four purusharthas — may Saraswati protect us.

Worshipped by all the worlds, with a face like the full moon; abiding on the tip of every tongue — may Saraswati ever protect us.
