Hymn text
I worship the first god, cause of the world, bearer of Shri, lord of the worlds, all-pervading Vishnu; giver of the wishes of all devotees, giver of liberation, Madhava — Satyanarayana, Vishnu, the lord.
Ever devoted to the welfare of the worlds, of good form for the protection of gods, cows and brahmins; the beautiful refuge of lowly-hearted devotees — Satyanarayana, Vishnu, the lord.
In whose right auspicious Ganga shines, in whose left Lakshmi ever gleams; who appears gracious-faced and beatific — him I worship: Satyanarayana, Vishnu, the lord.
Whom a person in distress, in battle, ever remembers to destroy the fear within; by whose grace all tasks are fulfilled — him I worship: Satyanarayana, Vishnu, the lord.
The Lord who grants the rare wishes sought, dear to devotion, who gives to the virtuous devotee of himself; the refuge of all beings, sustainer of the world — him I worship: Satyanarayana, Vishnu, the lord.
Brahmin, saint and the banner-proud vaishya, by whose devotion even the immortals became famous; by whose sport the whole universe is spread — that all-pervading one I worship: Satyanarayana, Vishnu, the lord.
By whom even a blade of grass beyond Brahma is supported, who creates and sustains all this universe; dear to the mood of devotees, ocean of the mercy of Shri — him I worship: Satyanarayana, Vishnu, the lord.
Giver of all desires, ever dear to the good, worshipped by hosts of gods and honoured by chief sages; eternal giver of sons, grandsons and all wished-for things — him I worship: Satyanarayana, Vishnu, the lord.
