beyond qualities and with qualities, forever.
Hymn text
Gangaram Dev, benefactor of all; an incarnation manifest in the Vaishya lineage.
The fruit of past lives remained immeasurable; blessed, blessed were the father and mother.
Of noble lineage and noble satsang; his pure name, and the Ganga besides.
The name Baba is supremely beneficial; a hundred, a hundred years of auspiciousness.
His birth passed without heed of the body; through austerity after austerity the Lord was attained.
Whoever set their mind upon Baba, by his ardour attained the immortal state.
Your town is Jhunjhunu, your dwelling; you remove the troubles of those who take refuge.
For the sake of dharma you forgot all comforts; seeing the lowly and helpless, you took them to heart.
In this way forty years passed; in the end, leaving the body, you became known as a god.
In the realm of the gods you gained a golden body; then you sent a message for the welfare of the people.
You showed your own kinsfolk a vision in sleep, and explained the remedy for future karma.
You granted your own son a vision, and accomplished every task for the sake of dharma.
When a heavenly voice came in the night, your form appeared in the eastern direction.
Just as the Lord appeared for the welfare of all.
In this way a miracle was shown; in inner vision all illusion faded.
Hearing the true words they thought it over, and Gangaram called from within the mind.
Whoever makes a solemn vow in the mind, Baba the Peer removes it in a moment.
Just as he shows his own true form, so does he test his hosts of devotees.
Of high resolve and pure conduct; a steadfast worshipper of the name.
Whoever calls on Gangaram daily, Baba rescues that one from sorrow.
Those who fixed their attention on Baba, those people attained all the joys of the world.
In whose mind the good of others dwells, in that very body Baba himself dwells.
Fixing his meditation on the Lord within the mind; without it no contentment is found in the mind.
Whose body and mind he watered with the tree of dharma; the farther shore of Brahma drew that one into itself.
Whoever sings the name of Gangaram, attaining Vaikuntha obtains the supreme state.
Baba the Peer removes every kind of trouble, for one who remembers him purely, day and night.
Friend of the lowly, benefactor of the helpless; destroy our sins, we are at your refuge.
You are the five gods, complete in radiance; always dwell in the company of saints.
(the source edition breaks off mid-line here) Gangaram, the unfailing sign of both worlds.
You are an ocean of mercy and a sea of happiness; gracious one, fulfil the heart desires.
The city of Jhunjhunu is greatly fortunate, for there Baba the loving one was born.
Perfect Brahma, dwelling in every vessel; Gangaram, immortal and imperishable.
Brahma form, the god most guileless; wearing earrings and a priceless crown.
A treasury of the joy and splendour of eternal bliss; remove our darkness and make us radiant.
At the Ganga Dussehra fair, in the city of Jhunjhunu, at the auspicious hour.
Whoever sings your kirtan, beholding your image the mind rejoices without bound.
Taking your name in the early morning, the eighty-four lakh cycles come to an end.
The Panchdev temple is renowned; a stream of devotees comes for a glimpse.
Victory to the name of Shri Gangaram, to the supreme abode that carries one across.
Closing couplet
Whoever hears and sings it with love, in kirtan and bhajan — fulfil every wish of the mind, O Gangaram.
